- Hints
- -----
-
- Well, as long as there's no general documentation, I'll at least reveal a few
- hints. Some of the aspects of this program is not exactly easy to find out by
- chance.
-
- * Filelists:
- Inside !FidoMail there is a dir called 'Filelists'. If you've got a filelist
- from a fido-bbs (eg. Cryton), put it in that dir, and call it:
- 'NNNNnnnnFL'
- where NNNN is the net# in hex, and nnnn the node#. Just like the files in
- Binkley's outbound dir. Then you will see this net/node appear in the iconbar
- menu under 'In->Req file->". Click on the address, and you'll get a window
- containing the filelist, and a small toolbox to search in it. If the lines in
- the list starts with the filenames (as is normal), you will be able to just
- click on a file to request it.
-
- * StrongHlp:
- Try running StrongHlp (part of StrongEd) and then FidoMail. StrongHelp's 'Help'
- menu should now contain a 'FidoMail' entry. By clicking this, you can get
- further info about FidoMail, although it isn't completed at all. Most of the
- finished stuff concerns FidoNet in general.
-
- * Check heap
- Check heap can be used if strange things starts happening to see if the heap
- is still in a sensible state. If you find an error, there is currently little
- you can do to correct it, but if it's just a number of unallocated bytes, you
- can safely continue to use the messagebase, though it will be larger than
- actually needed.
-
- * Tidy
- Tidy will remove all the free blocks in the messagebase file, and reduce it
- to minimum length.
